Nelson Fire Protection is a family owned business owned by Ken & Marie Watson.

Ken, after retiring from 25 years in the NZ Fire Service specialising in cylinder testing and breathing apparatus, purchased the business in 1996 at its premises in St Vincent St.

As the business grew, sons Gary in 1998 and Mark in 2002 joined the business and by 2003 needing more room, Nelson Fire Protection moved to Forests Road in Stoke.

Further growth prompted another move in 2009 to purpose-built facilities in its current location at 25 Venice Place with the addition of 2 more staff members.
